Pineapple Robot
Karaoke tiki bar, West Maui. A fast site that carries a very specific room onto a phone.
Overview
A fast, custom site for a new karaoke bar in West Maui — built to load on hotel wifi, keep the room's personality intact on a phone, and be easy for the team to keep current. We shot the room and the food, and we keep it running on a care plan.
The problem
A new karaoke bar in West Maui gets about four seconds to convince someone walking Front Street that this is the place. Their drink list changed constantly, so anything we hard-coded onto a website would have been out of date inside a week — the same problem that had already killed the seasonal PDF.
The room is loud, tiki, robot-themed and genuinely funny. That had to survive the phone — most restaurant templates would've flattened it into a hero image and a hamburger.
What we did
We built lean, handed the menu to the people who actually change it, and shot the room ourselves so the site looks like the place rather than like a template with someone else's food in it.
- React + Vite on Vercel — a lean build that loads fast on hotel wifi and Lāhainā cell service
- A menu the bar staff can change in a couple of minutes, with no developer involved
- Custom intro video on the homepage, compressed so it never holds up the page
- "Meet the Bots" — the room's characters as a real section of the site, and the page people send each other
- Interactive map for a walk-up crowd, with tap-to-navigate and parking notes
- A care plan, so it stays fast and current — and they hear from us every month in plain language
It became the template for Pizza Paradiso, their sister restaurant — the same build underneath, so the two rooms share the plumbing and nothing else.
